What is the relationship between the residents of Brittany (France) and digital technology? This is the question that has driven Marsouin for some twenty years.
The figures presented in this summary note are drawn from the analysis of the 2022 CAPUNI survey, which was conducted amongst households and individuals aged 18 and over residing in Brittany. This work follows on from studies initiated as part of the CAPUNI Crisis survey during the first lockdown in spring 2020, as well as the national CAPUNI survey in 2019.
The aim remains to gain a more detailed understanding of digital usage amongst the population of Brittany. In order to build on the analysis carried out in the previous sections and to distinguish between different groups of Bretons, we have chosen to develop a typology incorporating all variables relating to access, equipment and digital skills.
Following this approach, the 2022 CAPUNI survey enabled us to identify four profiles of Bretons based on their relationship with digital technology: the ‘disengaged’ (18 per cent of respondents), the ‘persistent’ (30 per cent of respondents), the ‘connected’ (9 per cent of respondents) and the ‘experienced’ (43 per cent of respondents).
